Our democracy affinity group of 25+ has been meeting monthly since July of 2025 as part of the One Million Rising campaign of Indivisible in July 2025.
We meet in our local free library community room. We have folks attending who are part of many faith traditions in Southern Oregon: Unitarian Universalists, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, United Church of Christ, Self-Realization Fellowship, Celtic and non-aligned. Most of our group is over 70 and some in their 80’s so we started looking for actions to defend democracy that we can do with our decreasing energy and strength. In addition to making calls to Congress, we are writing postcards to voters before the midterms.
Starting in July of 2026, we started sending BLUE WAVE Postcards. We’ve sent to Ohio, Iowa, Nevada, Nebraska, Texas, Arizona and California.
One of our biggest successes was obtaining a $650 stipend from the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Ashland, Oregon which paid for 800 Bluewave postcards and postage! This has helped our group tremendously! Eighteen folks showed up for a Pizza and Postcard Party, where we wrote cards to Arizona voters.
We’ve used postcards from other organizations, but BLUE WAVE Postcards are the easiest and best for us!
