Everyone Has A Responsibility To Make A Positive Difference In The World {Guest Post}

I am a boomer, and graduated from high school in 1970 and college in 1974- marched against the war in Viet Nam, and was a strong supporter of Womens' Liberation (Our Bodies, Our Selves), and worried about what we called "ecology" back then--which was how we treated the mother Earth.  I felt then and still do that everyone has a responsibility to make a positive difference in the world.  Mine was to help people with special needs who are all too often a forgotten population with respect to funding and services.  My career was great, mostly because I was able to work with like-minded people and while our ultimate gains may not be measured monetarily, they were measured in meeting needs and smiles every day.

I live in IL (very blue) and my son lives in WI (swing).  I volunteered for a training whereby we were to approach the Independents and "undecideds" done by the Kenosha Co Dem Precinct organizer.  This is a program called Win Over Wisconsin. He was powerful and his message was to begin with what the person's values are.  So the conversation could begin by what is important to you?  The future for your grandkids, the economy, making your own decisions about your body and health, etc. and then moving on from there in terms of how the Dems platforms (for that area) fit in.

Right after that came the big debate debacle and I was hesitant not knowing what would happen with Biden.  So I opted to use the Blue Wave postcards as a way to help.  I'm all in now!! The postcards were a breeze with printed labels-- no more writers' cramps!!
