10,000 Cards And Counting {Guest Post}

I’m a public school teacher who was raised by teachers, and my family has always been politically active––being a teacher really opens your eyes to all of the ways politics can help or hurt kids.

During the pandemic, our options to be involved with causes we care about felt more limited. I’d sent quite a few postcards in the wake of the 2016 election, but the pandemic lockdown was when postcarding really took off for my friends and family. We would write together in my backyard because it was safe, it was fun, and it was important. There are many different postcarding efforts out there (all doing great work), and we may have tried them all!  I’ve now coordinated sending over 10,000 postcards for various campaigns, and I can absolutely say that Blue Wave makes it the easiest. Having a shorter message to handwrite, along with address labels, just makes it simpler to get more cards in the mail.

So many people want to pitch in, but aren’t sure how to participate, and Blue Wave has made it easy for me to recruit other folks to help save democracy––and I am extra motivated this election now that there is a teacher nominated for VP! Thank you, Blue Wave!
